Plasma-Lyte A is a sterile, nonpyrogenic intravenous fluid and electrolyte replenisher in a convenient 1000 mL bag. Each 100 mL provides sodium chloride USP (526 mg), sodium gluconate (502 mg), sodium acetate trihydrate USP (368 mg), potassium chloride USP (37 mg), and magnesium chloride hexahydrate USP (30 mg). The solution has a pH of 7.4 (adjusted with sodium hydroxide) and an osmolarity of 294 mOsmol/L for physiologic compatibility considerations. Electrolyte concentrations per liter include Sodium 140 mEq/L, Potassium 5 mEq/L, Magnesium 3 mEq/L, Chloride 98 mEq/L, Acetate 27 mEq/L, and Gluconate 23 mEq/L. Designed for IV use, it supports fluid and electrolyte replacement under professional supervision.
